Three Midlands teams are still active in the state boys tennis playoffs that resume on Monday.
In Class 4A, Lexington (14-5) travels to Wando for a rematch of last season’s third-round match won by the Wildcats. Lexington dispatched Conway and Beaufort in the first two rounds last week.
The winner advances to the Lower State championship match on Wednesday for a shot at a place in the state title match on Saturday at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
Thomas Bryan (No. 1), Will Horton (No. 3), Cole Meyers (No. 4) and Hector Santillan-Vazquez (No. 5) are 2-0 in singles play.
In Class 3A, Region 4 champion River Bluff travels to face Daniel while Region 4 runner-up A.C. Flora us at home against Emerald. The possibility exists for an all-Midlands match in the Upper State championship clash on Wednesday with a guarantee of at least one area team making it to the state finals.
River Bluff (16-2) took down 16-1 Eastside with ease in the second round last week. The Gators have two 6-0 postseason wins on the books. Logan Adkins, Nikil Sairam, Hunter Benefield, Albert Zhu and Conner Slattery have been the RB singles winners, while Robby Cope and Lucas Cox are 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.
A.C. Flora has also scored two shutout wins so far against Chapman and Wren. Brandon Douglass, Lukas McClamrock, Austin Powell, Alexander Glickman and Hal Fant are 2-0 in singles play.
If successful today, River Bluff will host the Upper State final no matter the opponent.
