West Ashley sends Wildcats packing

Wil Hardy scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning with the go-ahead run and Caleb Goude added a three-run triple to highlight a seven-run sixth inning that propelled No. 2 West Ashley to a 9-2 win over No. 4 Lexington in an elimination game in the AAAA Lower State baseball playoffs at West Ashley Field on Monday.
Lexington ends the season with a 20-10 record, While West Ashley improved to 22-6. West Ashley plays Wando in an elimination game on Wednesday. Wando dropped a 2-1 decision to top-ranked Sumter at home on Monday.
Hardy singled to left field to start the bottom of the sixth inning. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and a sacrifice and scored on a one-out wild pitch that gave West Ashley a 3-2 lead. A pair of walks and a hit batter with the bases loaded forced in three runs to give the Wildcats a 6-2 lead. Goude's triple to right field plated three more runs and closed out the scoring.
