Chick-fil-A changes time for Hammond-Trinity
In anticipation of a large crowd, the Chick-fil-A Classic game between Hammond and Trinity Christian has been moved to 5:25 p.m. on Monday. The losers’ bracket game was set to be played in the auxiliary gym, which seats 700, at Richland Northeast later in the evening.
Hammond’s opening night game, a double-overtime loss to Dreher, sold out the main gym an hour before tipoff on Friday. Tournament director Gary Fulmer said organizers expect a similar interest in this game, which features nationally ranked juniors Seventh Woods, ranked 28th in the nation by ESPN, and Trinity Christian’s fifth-ranked Dennis Smith Jr.
Coaches from Wando and Arlington Country Day agreed to move their National Division semifinal game to 6:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym to accommodate the change.
Tickets to Monday’s games are available at the Richland Northeast gymnasium box office an hour before tipoff of the day’s first game, a 1:50 p.m. matchup between the host Cavaliers and Mullins. The tournament concludes Tuesday.
