The Blythewood girls golf team makes the jump to Class 4A this season with a veteran team. Four starters return after helping the Bengals finish fourth last season at the 3A season finale.
“We’re still a very young team, but all of our returning players posted career best scores at state last year so we know they’re capable of handling pressure,” said Blythewood coach Bucky Ware.
The one graduation loss was a big one – No. 1 player Tracy Cribb, who was a four-year varsity player that finished 11th individually at state.
“We will need someone to take over that No. 1 spot,” said Ware.
Never miss a local story.
The four returning starters are sophomores Rachel Wyatt and Erin Watkins, eighth-grader Kelsey Badmaev and senior Leann Williams. Wyatt shot 84 at state last crack the individual Top 25. Eighth-graders Courtney Hance and AnnMarie McManus both earned letters last season and will challenge for starting jobs.
