Chapin notes: The Eagles were in total control in last week’s 30-14 win over neighboring Mid-Carolina that upped the non-region record to 3-2. Chapin buried the Rebels with a balanced, 405-yard offensive assault … Graham Montgomery ran for a season high 111 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries and caught two passes for 98 yards. Mikey Capers contributed 80 yards on the ground and quarterback Josh Miller added 50 yards and two TDs to the cause. Miller went 6-for-13 passing for 168 yards and one touchdown. Top receiver Neil Sawyer did not play … Capers now has 323 yards rushing, Montgomery 320 and Miller 290. Miller has 876 passing yards, completing 38 of 82 throws. He has 10 scoring passes. Sawyer is still the top with 16 catches for 459 yards and seven TDs … John Sloan is at the head of the hit parade with 53 tackles. Ryan Elliott has 38 tackles, including six tackles for loss.
Lugoff-Elgin notes: The Demons thumped Brookland-Cayce 43-7 last week to improve to 4-1. L-E and Fairfield Central (also 4-1) enter Region 4-3A play with the best non-region records in the group … Both the Demons and Bearcats scored on their first possessions last week, but it was all Demons after Trent Hudson tallied with less than a minute to go in the first quarter to put L-E ahead, 13-7 … Phillip Osborne led the way with 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Hudson chipped in 62 yards and one score … The defense forced five turnovers, including interceptions by Devonte Alexander and Anthony Myers and two fumble recoveries by Darius Custard .. The only negative was L- was flagged 15 times for various infractions costing 129 yards.
Series history: The teams are not strangers, but will tangle for the first time as region foes this week as part of L-E’s homecoming festivities. Chapin has dominated the series, winning 13 of the first 14 encounters, but the Demons won the last two encounters by lopsided scores in 1996 and 1997.
