Lexington opened the Class 4A state volleyball playoffs with a 3-0 win over Fort Dorchester on Tuesday. The Wildcats (14-2) move on to a second-round Lower State match Thursday at home against James Island, which score a 3-0 first-round win against Hartsville.
The Wildcats had little trouble dispatching the visitors from North Charleston, prevailing 25-13, 25-12, 25-13.
Kellie Schmidt ruled at the net vs. the visiting Patriots last night, ringing up 21 kills. Setter Laura Grace Swindler had 29 assists, two kills and two blocks. Jennifer Hoppe had two kills and two blocks. Senior Lauren Owen chipped in four kills to the cause.
Lexington’s serving game produced 15 aces. Swindler had four aces, while Schmidt and Hoppe had three apiece. Sophomore Aubrey Dooley and senior Chasen Dillard both had two aces.
