Dreher ace Chandler Knox may not have had his "best stuff" on Friday against Swansea, but it was plenty enough to run his season record to 3-0. The Blue Devils, 8-3 overall, moved to 5-0 in Region 5-3A play as a result of the 13-2 rour of the Tigers.
Knox pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and only one base on balls. Knox recorded nine strikeouts and only got into trouble in the 4th inning. With Dreher leading 3-0, Swansea got a leadoff single and a two-run home run to close the gap to 3-2. After that, Knox only allowed only two singles over the final three innings.
After Swansea got within one run, the Dreher bats came alive with nine hits in the last three innings. The Bule Devils were led by senior shortstop Kurt Stoudenmire, who scored four runs and rapped two doubles. Stoudenmire is hitting .303 on the season. Bud Jeter (2-for-5, .303), Matt Spotts (2-for-4, .261), and Aaron Markham (2-for-4, .238) also had multi-hit games. Woody Horn (.302) scored three runs.
Dreher has a four-game week on tap, including regions dates vs. South Aiken (Tuesday on the road and Midland Valley (Friday on the road). The Blue Devils host SCISA rival Hammond on Wednesday and square off against Dutch Fork Saturday in the first round of the Sandlapper tournament on Satuday.
