Wilson Hall swept Cardinal Newman out of the SCISA Class 3A state baseball playoffs, beating the visiting Cardinals 10-0 and 8-1 in a first-round doubleheader on Monday.
The Barons (20-6) received a five-inning perfect game from pitchers Patrick Gordon and Jordan Cannon in the opener. Gordon struck out seven of the 12 CN batters he faced in his four-inning starting stint.
The only run the Cardinals produced in the twinbill came on a Robert Bonner in the second inning of the nightcap, scoring Greg Regan who delivered the first CN hit of the day.
The Cardinals, who were ended up playing seven games in eight days at the end of the season, finished with a 10-15 record.
Never miss a local story.
Wilson Hall moves on to face Pinewood Prep in the second round. The Barons travel to Summerville doubleheader on Friday. If a third game is necessary, it will be Saturday in Sumter.
