White Knoll put together its finest boys soccer season in history in 2009. The Timberwolves finished with a 15-4 record, was a Top 10 team in Class 4A for most of the season and came in second behind eventual state runner-up Irmo in tough Region 5-4A.
“It was a great season,” said T-wolves coach Tim Green. “Our team set many milestones including winning its first ever home playoff game. The four losses all came to ranked teams in the state - Irmo twice, Lexington, and Wando.”
White Knoll will lose the services of five key seniors - Jonathan Salinas, Ivan Espinosa, Patrick Sykes, Skyler Walker and Corey Branham. Salinas and Sykes were all-region picks along with underclassmen Nestor Jaramillo and Ian Murray.
Jaramillo, the high-scoring freshman forward, Murray, Jeremiah Polk, Brandon Sykes, Todd Johnston and Christian Lord are starters expected to return to the fold next season.
“We have six starters returning and expect great things from them,” said Green. “We also have several quality junior varsity players coming up as well as some returning reserve players that should contribute greatly next year. We hope to have another successful season.”
