Summerville notes: The Green Wave is 2-0 in John McKissick’s 58th season in charge in Summerville. McKissick, of course, is the winningest football coach in history at any level. His record is 567-133-13 … The Wave is more ground oriented this season with inexperienced Dalton Sanders at quarterback. Last week, however, the sophomore burned highly regarded Goose Creek for 162 yards and three touchdowns on juts seven completions in a 28-17 win that was considered to be a significant upset … In two games, SHS is averaging 208 yards by land, 102 by air. Running back DeAngelo Henederson has 384 yards rushing and five touchdowns on the books. Henderson had 273 of Summerville’s 419 rushing yards and scored four times in a 41-7 season-opening win vs. Conway … The defense has been strong, allowing an early average of 259 yards a game.
Irmo notes: The Yellow Jackets managed just 79 rushing yards in last week’s 19-14 road loss at Fort Dorchester … The big offensive guns for the Jackets are Mustafa Greene, quarterback David Olson and receiver David Frazier. Greene has 282 yards rushing, sports a 7.2 per-carry average and has three touchdowns. Olson is 19-for-47 passing for 272 yards and four TDs. Frazier has eight grabs for 129 yards and one score.
Series history: Irmo beat the Green Wave at Memorial Stadium last year in the first-ever regular season meeting of the teams. Previously, Summerville had a 4-2 edge in playoff encounters with the Yellow Jackets.
