Lower Richland notes: The Diamond Hornets (1-3) put up some impressive offensive numbers last week, but couldn’t deal defensively with Airport’s potent offensive attack in a 47-28 loss to the unbeaten Eagles … Devante Wright had 180 yards rushing on 18 carries, caught five passes for 65 yards and scored 14 points in the losing effort. Quarterback John Worthy was 16-for-31 passing for 208 yards and two TDs. Marvin Smith had a team high 12 tackles … For the season, Wright has 478 yards rushing on 45 carries, 10 receptions for 128 yards and leads the team in scoring with 38 points. Worthy is 52-for-103 passing for for 729 yards and eight scores. Ethan Adams (12-98-1) and Desmond Wallace (10-168-3) have been reliable receivers on the outside … On defense, Marvin Smith has 56 tackles, and Matthew Smith is second with 42 stops … LR has lost three in a row since opening the season with a win over Dreher.
Blythewood notes: The Bengals improved to 3-1 with a 31-28 win over Dutch Fork. The Silver Foxes scored with 4:19 remaining in the game, but Blythewood was able to run out the clock from there ... Curtis Hill’s 1-yard scoring run at 6:20 of the fourth quarter capped a decisive eight-play, 80-yard scoring drive … Brandon Wilds, who did not play at all in the first quarter, darted for 184 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. The junior running back now has 696 yards and eight TDs on 90 carries … Evan Lanford, Hill and Russell Taylor were the BHS stars on defense. Lanford had two interceptions – his second two-pick game of the season – and ripped off a school record 64-yard return on one of the thefts. Hill had four TFL and one sack. Taylor shared the team tackles lead with Lanford with 10.
