Johnson to Chris Lewis and a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter. But that was it for the Panthers on offense, who came up empty on their last three possessions of the game. Johnson had 82 yards rushing and was 9-for-19 passing for 130 yards … Johnson took over the team rushing lead last week, and now has 247 yards and three touchdowns on 50 carries. Lewis has made the most of his five catches to date – 160 yards and four TDs … On defense, Rivers Bedenbaugh has a team high 50 tackles, Andre Johnson has 49 tackles and three TFL, Eddie Quattlebaum has 35 tackles and five sacks and Jamal Bryant, the team’s leading receiver, has 15 tackles and six interceptions.
Series history: In recent years, this has been the most hotly contested Midlands series. The past three games have all bee decided by one point. B-L escaped with 28-27 and 26-25 wins in 2006 and 2007, but the Indians claimed a 21-20 triumph a year ago. It was only the second Gilbert win in 23 tries in the series, and the first since 1991.
