Columbia notes: The Capitals (7-1, 3-0) are looking to keep pace with Central atop the Region 4-2A standings, and set up a showdown with the Eagles for the region championship in Week 10 at Memorial Stadium ... Columbia drilled Andrew Jackson 49-9 last week as senior quarterback Kevin Davis had a record performance. Davis completed 15 of 22 passes for 303 yards and seven touchdowns. The seven scoring strikes is a single-game school record. Davis also had 47 yards rushing. Casey Gladney, a sophomore, was Davis’ favorite target, and finished with seven receptions for 131 yards and two TDs … On defense, Akil Sharperson had 10 tackles, 2 TFL and 2 sacks, Jordan Jacobs had 11 stops (9 solo) and Ron Amaker was in on eight tackles, broke up four AJ passes and even recovered an onside kick … For the season, Long is 82 for 116 for 1,320 yards and 18 touchdowns with just two interceptions. He is second on the team in rushing with 466 yards and four TDs on 72 carries. DeErik Bradley paces the ground game with 659 yards and 11 TDs on 104 totes. Gladney is the top receiver with 29 catches for 566 yards and seven scores, while Christian Reed has 21 receptions for 401 yards and five TDs … On defense, Jacobs is the top hit man with 69 tackles, Sharperson has nine sacks and Demonte Cunningham has a team high three interceptions.
Keenan notes: The Raiders (6-2, 2-1) whipped Lee Central, 33-15, last week to keep alive their slim hopes of at least earned a share of the region title. Keenan must beat Columbia and hope the Caps turn around and do them a favor by defeating Central in the regular season finale … Antonio Perry and Phillip George were the Raider offensive headliners last week. Perry connected of 10 of 21 passes for 170 yards and three scores. George ran for 160 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. George also had seven tackles and one interception on defense … To date, Perry is 88-for-163 passing for 1,865 yards and 18 TDs. George is the top rusher with 636 yards and nine TDs on 92 carries and has eight catches for 198 yards and two scores. The top receivers are Spencer Jasper (37-612-5) and Dennie Rowe (28-647-8) … George and James Barnes have been outstanding on defense. George has 47 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 interceptions. Barnes has a team high totals in tackles (49) and sacks (9).
Series history: The Raiders snapped a six-game losing streak against the Capitals last season, scoring a 37-30 shootout win. Columbia enjoys an 18-15 edge in the series.
