A.C. Flora leads the Midlands contingent at the Class 3A state girls golf championship meet that runs Monday and Tuesday at Quail Creek GC in Conway.
The Falcons finished first at last week’s Upper State qualifying meet with a team score of 307, 13 strokes ahead of second-place Riverside. Alex Van Dine made it a clean Falcons sweep at the qualifier by emerge the medallist honors with a solid round of 72. Teammate Collins Bradshaw carded a 76 – the third best round of the day. The other Falcons contributors were Lauren Dunbar (78) and Virginia Lesslie (81).
Brookland-Cayce and Chapin made the cut at the Lower State qualifier.
B-C finished in fifth place with a score of 357. Elizabeth Hill (82) and Sarah Johnson (84) paced the Bearcats effort.
Chapin was sixth with a score of 366. Melissa Meetze (80) and Libby Crawford (84) were the top Eagles shooters.
Lugoff-Elgin’s Kelli Cheri Murphy and Dreher’s Olivia Grabowski made the grade as individual qualifiers. Murphy shot a 78 – the fifth-lowest score of the day – and Grabowski carded an 85.
