Laurence Manning notes: The Swampcats (7-4) pulled off a last-second 28-21 win at home over Ben Lippen, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 28 seconds left in regulation on 5-yard touchdown run by Banks Lee … Lee finished with 170 yards and two TDs on 22 carries. Quarterback Josh Boykin was 8-for-10 passing for 118 yards and scoring passes to Ryan McNair and Grayson Matthews … The LMA defense limited Ben Lippen to 118 yards passing, 131 yards on the ground.
Heathwood Hall notes: The Highlanders (11-0) avoided a potential overtime upset in the first round when they thwarted a two-point conversion bid by Porter-Gaud with 58 remaining in regulation to escape with a 28-26 win … Heathwood sacked P-G quarterback Hudson Worthy six times, but the emerging sophomore star hung tough in the pocket and burned the Highlanders secondary for 395 passing yards … Mac Whalen had a pretty good game himself – ringing up 98 yards rushing and connecting on 14 of 30 passes for 216 yards and one TD. Whalen, however, was guilty of three turnovers – one fumble, two interceptions … Walker Sojourner, who led the fateful late defensive stand, had three touchdown runs on the other side … The Highlanders have not been to the SCISA championship finals since 2004 when it defeated Wilson Hall 21-14 to complete a perfect, 13-0 campaign.
Series history: The Highlands scored a 38-27 regular season win to increase their lead in the series to 7-4. Heathwood has won six of the last seven meetings since LMA ruled early with three wins in the first four encounters.
