Before the 2009-10 girls basketball season tips off, Lower Richland already has a victory under its belt.
Thursday the Diamond Hornets requested and won eligibility for senior transfer Tymiesha Danley. Danley, who had been enrolled at Lower Richland as a sophomore but spent her junior year in Washington D.C., moved back to the area with her grandmother in August. The Executive Committee, after hearing of Danley’s ordeal with physical and emotional abuse while in D.C., voted unanimously to set aside the one-year waiting period that is usually required before transfers can play sports at a new school.
Danley has not practiced or played with the team yet, but said she is confident she can contribute to the Diamond Hornets in their quest for a fifth consecutive state championship.
