Lexington's young girls basketball team hopes to improve upon last season’s 8-15 showing and land a spot on the state playoffs after missing the cut a year ago.
“We are still extremely young with only one returning senior, four juniors, five sophomores and one freshman,” said coach David Long.
“Team Chemistry is a strength and so is defense. Our region is very competitive with all five of our qualifying teams winning first round playoff games last year. We hope to finish in the top five and earn a playoff spot.”
The strength of last year’s team was defense. The Wildcats allowed an average of just 38.7 points a game. Improving the offensive output is key this season after the team averaged just 34.6 points per out a year ago.
Junior wing/forward Morgan Hause, junior point guard Jasmine Pinckney, sophomore wing Janai Pinckney and 6-1 sophomore post Sarah Padgett are the top returning players.
