THE SKINNY: Top-ranked Chesterfield has won two consecutive state championships and has not lost prior to the state final since 2005, Steve Taneyhill's first season as Rams coach. Calhoun County beat Bamberg-Ehrhardt 20-0 last week to avenge its lone loss.
Never miss a local story.
SHAMIER JEFFREY (CALHOUN COUNTY): An excellent wide receiver/safety for most of the season, Jeffrey has moved to quarterback and is excelling. He completed 19 of 34 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns against Bamberg-Ehrhardt last week.
SERGIO JOHNSON (CHESTERFIELD): An all-state selection, Johnson scored 20 touchdowns during the regular season, tallying 11 as a receiver, eight via the rush and one in the return game.
CALHOUN COUNTY WILL WIN IF ... Jeffrey uses his speed and athleticism to do something no one else has: move the ball consistently against a Rams defense that has allowed 32 points this season.
