A.C. Flora’s boys basketball team squares off against 10-1 Sumter in the Midlands spotlight game today at the Taco Bell Classic. The 5-2 Falcons take on the red-hot Gamecocks in the tournament semifinal round at 4:30 p.m.
ACF beat Aquinas (GA) 67-63 in first-round play on Monday. The balanced Falcons scoring attack featured double-digit contributions by Marquise Simuel (22 points), Terrance Segars (12), Akeem Williams (10) and Lamont Todd (10).
Sumter also had plenty of balance while thumping Charlotte’s Waddell High 72-58 in the first round. Mike James was the nominal Gamecocks scoring leader with 14 points. David Henderson (12 points), Eren Moses (12), Cameron Duncan (12) and D.J. Coleman (10) offered plenty of support.
Three Midlands girls teams also have semifinal match-ups on tap today, including the Dutch Fork-Fairfield Central clash at 6:30 p.m. Blythewood takes on Greenwood in the other girls semifinal at 3 p.m.

Dutch Fork whipped Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 82-32 on Monday as Aliana Coates fired in 26 points and Donesha Shuler added 23. Fairfield Central advanced by nipped Strom Thurmond 33-28.
Blythewood upended improved Camden 51-44 in the tournament opener on Monday. Keirra Brown’s 15 points headlined the Bengals win, while Leandra Culbertson tossed in 12 points and Aaliyah Keels chipped in 10. Tyrina Brown had 14 points and Chelsea Reynolds added 12 for the Bulldogs.
