The ranked boys and girls cross country teams at Chapin and Irmo had solid performances as representatives of the Palmetto State at the Disney World Classic Invitational meet on Saturday at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
Junior Heath Lorick was the individual winner while leading the Eagles to the team championship in the Invitational Division race. Lorick had a winning time of 16 minutes, 51.80 seconds and the Eagles finished with a winning total of 37 points.
Seniors Thomas Fitzpatrick (3rd, 17:12.10), Jonathan Day (9th, 17:55.60) and Hunter McGeehee (10th, 17:59.90). Senior Alex Wallace (14th, 18:12.40) closed out the Chapin scoring lineup.
The Chapin girls finished in third place in the Invitational Division with 103 points. Sophomore Lauren Steedley (7th, 20:56.80), freshman Katherine Mirgon (9th, 21:04.40), senior Sara Baldwin (30th, 22:46.80), freshman Samantha Koenig (30th, 23:13.80) and freshman Shelby Green (38th), 23:13.90) were the Eagles five scoring runners.

The Irmo girls finished in seventh place with 200 points in the Elite Divison with sophomore Mary Grace Hutchinson leading the way. Hutchinson finished 29th with a time of 20:48.60.
Sophomore Anna Buford (32nd, 21:02.00), senior Ashia Maddox (41st, 21:29.60), junior Savannah Radenbaugh (44th, 21:35.80) and senior MC Satterthwaite (57th, 22:09.90) had the Yellow Jackets other scoring runs.
The Irmo boys finished in 10th place with 237 points behind senior Aaron Skiro (25th, 17:07.30) and junior Andrew Jordan (29th, 17:11.20).
Seniors Evan Graczyk (55th, 18:01.20) and Andy Roof (63rd, 18:12.10 and eighth-grader Andrew Duggan (65th, 18:18.30) accounted for the rest of the Jackets’ scoring.
