Lexington finished in eighth place at the 39th annual WRAL Invitational wrestling tournament in Raleigh (NC) last weekend.
The Wildcats tallied 96.5 team points at the venerable event and had two entries secure place finishes. Daniel Bannister was the top performer, going 4-2 and coming away with consolation honors (third place) at 160 pounds. Alex Morales also went 4-2 at 171, but had to settle for fifth place.
Bannister, Morales and Nate Meagher (215) all advanced to the semifinal round at their respective weights. Meagher, however, was eliminated in the losers bracket before reaching the place finals.
Overall, the Wildcats had a solid showing up and down the lineup. Walker Barfield went 3-2 at 130, while Jackson Myers (103), Sean Sinnott (112), Russell Taylor (119), Scott Tyndale (125) and Dylan Darden (152) all broken even at 2-2.
