Michael Weimer scored 18 points and Brian Kidd tallied 14, but the Chapin Eagles were knocked from the top spot in the Region 5-3A boys basketball standings on Tuesday night by Midland Valley.
The host Mustangs improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 62-60 win over the Eagles, now 2-1 in the region.
In other games, Lower Richland and Brookland-Cayce both won to pull even with Chapin at 2-1.
LR dumped Dreher 67-57 behind double-digit production from Edward Stephens and Dominique Miller. Stephens scored a game high 21 points and Miller scored 15. Eric Eaves and Chris King chipped in nine points apiece.
Tyler Harris scored 20 points for Dreher, which fell to 8-7 overall, 0-2 in region matters. Quayshun Hawkins scored 11, tallying his 1,000th career point along the way.
Brookland-Cayce (5-6, 2-1) thumped archrival Airport 67-51. Jonathan Rumph paced the Bearcats with a 24-point performance, and the senior star received solid backing from Tevin Lytes (14 points), Mike Lieberman (12) and Antwon Dallas (9).
Ricardo Martin led Airport with 12 points.
Region play continues on Friday with Chapin (2-1) at Brookland-Cayce (2-1), Dreher (0-2) at Airport (1-2) and Midland Valley (2-0) at A.C. Flora (0-2). Lower Richland has the bye.
