Spring Valley, Dutch Fork and Ridge View rolled to big Region 4-4A girls basketball wins on Tuesday.
Undefeated Spring Valley (18-0, 6-0) whipped out Lugoff-Elgin 73-31 after jumping up to a 20-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Xylina McDaniel destroyed the Demons with a super-sized double-double. The junior center took top billing with 30 points and 16 rebounds. McDaniel shot 12-for-17 from the field and was 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. She was also credited with three assists and three steals.
Shaquita Walker fell in behind McDaniel with nine points, hitting all four of her field goal attempts.
Dutch Fork (15-1, 5-1) rebounded from its disappointing showing in a lass to Spring Valley last week to whip Blythewood 61-29. Alaina Coates and Donnesha Shuler shared team scoring honors with 14 points, while Shelby Curtis added 10 and Sierre Stokes scored nine. Aaliyah Keels led the Bengals (8-6, 3-2) with 10 points,
Ridge View (11-3, 4-2) stormed past Irmo 56-34 with a strong second-half performance. The Blazers had a 26-20 lead at the break, but buried the Yellow Jackets with a 30-14 move after the intermission.
Alexus Jackson and Nikia Squire shared team scoring honors for the Blazers with 13 points and Elizabeth Styles tallied 0.
Jemekia Wilson led Irmo (7-9, 1-4) with 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
