Spring Valley and Dutch Fork continue to set the pace in Region 4-4A girls basketball.
Undefeated Spring Valley, ranked No. 5 nationally by MaxPreps.com, pummeled Irmo 74-29 on Tuesday for its 20th straight win. Xylina McDaniel and Asia Dozier were the in Viking forefront again. McDaniel scored a game high 21 points, pulled down eight rebounds dished out three assists and came up with four steals. Dozier had 17 points, six assists and four steals.
Briana Robinson, who scored the 1,000th point of her career last Friday, had 14 points vs. the Yellow Jackets. The highlight was a 4-for-7 shooting performance from 3-point range.
Dutch Fork (17-1, 7-1) broke open a tight game in the third quarter with an 18-8 run. The Silver Foxes jumped out to a 20-10 lead by the end of the first quarter, but the scrappy Blazers pulled even at the break with a 20-10 run in the second quarter.

Alaina Coates and Donnesha Shuler had the big numbers for DF. Coates dominated inside with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field, 16 rebounds and five blocks. The 6-foot-5 center also found time to ring up two assists and three steals. Shuler pumped ina game high 18 points and also had four assists.
Elizabeth Styles (15 points, 3 steals), Jontay Mitcham (13 points) and Alexus Jackson (6 points, 11 rebounds) did nice work for Ridge View (11-4, 5-3).
Lugoff-Elgin withstood a late Richland Northeast rally to beat the Cavaliers 42-39 and sweep the season series.
