The Executive Committee of the S.C. High School League has approved the proposal from Class 2A football coaches to hold two divisional championships in 2011.
The committee voted 13-2 in favor of the motion.
The proposal will allow all 48 teams in the class to compete in the playoffs, guaranteeing an 11-game season, with four teams receiving a first round bye.
The committee voted earlier this month to hold the Class 2A championships at Benedict's Charles W. Johnson Stadium. The two Class 2A title games played on Friday, Dec. 2.
Class 4A and Class A already are split into divisions and hold two championship games.
