Ridge View’s Mike Lantz turned in a solid performance on Saturday at the Wendy’s Invitational cross country meet at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.
Lantz finished in 12th place in the Invitational Division race with a time of 16:02. It was the third fastest time by a South Carolina runner in any of the three varsity races. Wando freshman Andrew Gawryluk placed ninth in 16:00 ahead of Lantz in the Invitational Division.
Hilton Head’s Jack Manesiotis claimed Palmetto State honors by leading the Class 3A top-ranked Skyhawks to a first-place finish in the Open Division. Manesiotis finished third individually, clocking in at 15:38.
Ridge View, which is in a rebuilding mode after two straight 4A runner-up finishes behind Lexington, placed 20th in the 32-team field, and had the satisfaction of topping archrival Spring Valley, 545-602.

Ridge View’s girls team finished seventh in the 28-team Open Division race.
Mallory Mihelich was the Blazer leader, finishing 34th with a time of 20:22. Kelsey Ballou (36th, 20:26), Jacy Smith (44th, 20:35), Claudia Cannon (48th, 20:44) and Megan Reardon (74th, 21:36) rounded out the RV scoring lineup.
