Airport vs. A.C. Flora

Game notes: A.C. Flora (5-1, 1-0) opened Region 5-3A play with a 49-24 win over Brookland-Cayce. QB Stephen Cagle was 8-for-10 passing for 115 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 47 yards and two scores. In all, the Falcons piled up 522 yards, 402 on the ground. The ACF offensive line had an outstanding game – Max Reeder graded out at 96% and had 10 big blocks and two pancakes, Matt Hall had 12 big blocks and three pancakes and Dequan Miller graded out at 97% with 15 big blocks and three pancakes. On defense, Donte Lovett had 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks and Tyan Vereen had 12 tackles, three TFL, one sack and two forced fumbles Airport (6-0, 1-0) rolled over Midland Valley 31-7. Markis Jenkins had 131 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Kelvin Harris had one scoring run and one scoring throw. On the offensive line, Alvin Adebule graded out at 88% with three pancakes and two knockdown blocks.
Series history: Airport was a 34-28 winner last season in the first meeting of the teams in 35 years. Flora still has a 3-2 series lead.

Lower Richland vs. Brookland-Cayce
Site: Diamond Mine. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Lower Richland (2-4, 1-0) opened the Region 5-3A campaign with a 21-20 win over Dreher. The Diamond Hornets defensive star was Alonzo Gibson, who had 10 tackles, four TFL and three sacks Brookland-Cayce (1-5, 0-1) suffered a 49-24 setback against A.C. Flora in last week’s conference opener.
Series history: B-C has won three in a row to pull even with Lower Richland. Both teams have won six games in the modern era series that began in 1970. The Bearcats scored a 14-7 win last season.
Midland Valley vs. Dreher
Site: LL Willis Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Both teams stand at 1-5 overall, 0-1 in Region 5-3A. Midland Valley fell 31-7 at Airport last week, while Dreher suffered a bitter 21-20 loss against Lower Richland Kwayshawn Drayton leads the Dreher defense with 70 tackles and Reggie Shiver is among the Midlands sack leaders with 6.5. WR James Huggins had four catches for 105 yards and tweo touchdowns against LR.
Series history: Midland Valley has won three in a row, eight of the last 10 meetings with the Blue Devils and has a 9-4 series lead.
Union County vs. Chapin
Site: Union County Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Chapin (3-3, 1-0) opened the Region 3-3A season with a solid 21-14 home win over Clinton. Robie Lopez ran for 70 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries and Matt Charpia threw a scoring pass to Matt Hite. Hite also had one scoring run Defensively, Devin Lawrence had a team-high 16 tackles, Mel Kitchens had two fumbles recoveries and Masin Zandi had two interceptions. In all, the Eagles D had five takeaways Union County (1-5, 0-1) is coming off a 57-13 whipping at the hands of Greer.
Series history: UC was a 28-7 winner in the first regular season meeting of the teams last season. The Eagles also fell to the Yellow Jackets in the state playoffs in 2009.
Hartsville vs. Camden
Site: Kelly Town Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Camden (2-4, 0-1) is coming off a 14-10 loss to Crestwood in last week’s opening round of play in Region 6-3A. RB Jo Jo Brevard has 628 yards rushing on 107 carries. QB Josh Council is 47-for-102 passing for 616 yards and nine touchdowns. LB Fidel Wise has 68 tackles, six TLF and two fumble recoveries. Wise rang up 14 tackles last week 0 Hartsville (5-0, 1-0) set a school single-game scoring record in last week’s 75-28 region win over Lakewood.
Series history: Hartsville earned a 17-13 win last year in the first region meeting of the teams in 35 years and enjoys a 23-18 series advantage since 1970.
