Lexington’s highly regarded cross country teams put on an impressive performance last weekend at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic at Lake Beuna Vista, Fla.
The two-time defending state champion Wildcats boys team blew away the Class 4A field, winning by a 59-point margin, while the LHS girls prevailed by an 11-point margin.
There was plenty of individual glory to go around, as well.
Colby Coulter (16:01.50) and Tony Morales (16:08.10) led the pack of 107 runners in the elite, big-school division, while Zach Langston (4th, 16:17.30), Blake White (5th, 16:26.40) and Erik Wendt (8th, 16:41.40) closed out the near-perfect, 20-point performance.
Meri Heneage (2nd, 19:29.90), Katelin Killman (3rd, 19:36.0) and Haylee Love (4th, 19:43.10) were the frontrunners for the Lexington girls team, which moved up to No. 2 in the most recent coaches rankings. Bari Robinson (16th, 20:04.20) and Camer Shackleford (30th, 21:30.80) were the Wildcats’ other scoring runners.
