Dutch Fork and Ridge View came away with Region 4-4A championships at the conference meet on Thursday at Sesquicentennial Park.
Dutch Fork was the runaway winner in the boys division and defending state champion was the individual champion with a time of 15:51. Ridge View took the top spot in the girls division, nipping Irmo 35-42 for the top spot. Hope Whisman was the girls individual champ, giving Dutch Fork a sweep of solo honors.
Hakes set the pace for Dutch Fork’s easy 29-68 margin of victory over runner-up Ridge View. Chris Stafford (4th, 16:46), ac Jaynes (6th, 16:51) and Jo Klasnic (7th, 17:01) joined Hakes on the all-region team, and Michael Bradley (11th, 17:17) rounded out the Silver Foxes scoring lineup.
Kelsey Ballou led the Ridge View girls with a second-place finish behind Whisman with a time of 19:53. Claudia Cannon (6th, 20:42) and Megan Reardon (7th, 20:43) added all-region support and Jacy Smith (9th, 21:02) and Mallory Mihelich (11th, 21:05 made the ultimate difference for the Blazers in the final two scoring spots.
Mike Lantz finished in second behind Hakes in the boys race while leading Ridge View to a second-place team finish.
Irmo fell just a bit short in the girls division. Savannah Radenbaugh (3rd, 20:00) and Janay Chisolm (6th, 20:18) led the way with all-region runs and Mary Grace Hutchinson (8th, 20:49) just missed the cut.
Irmo’s Andrew Jordan (3rd, 16:38) and Blythewood’s Jerald Glover (5th, 16:50) were the other all-region runners on the boys side, while Dutch Fork’s Amelia Syfert (4th, 20:05) rounded out the all-region cast in the girls division.
