Keenan’s boys and Columbia’s girls both remained unbeaten in Region 3-2A basketball play with road wins on Tuesday.
The Keenan boys (18-3, 7-0) took a 68-58 decision at Strom Thurmond. It was the 10th win in a row for the Raiders since a loss to Richland Northeast in the championship game of the Capital City Classic tournament during the holiday break. Marcus Stroman led Keenan with 24 points, Quinton Johnson scored 16 and Erick Tisdale tallied 13.
The Columbia girls (15-4, 7-0) ran past Gilbert 56-26 for their ninth straight win. The last Capitals loss was at the Capital City Classic in December. Dorothy Brown (14 points), Norrisha Victrum (13) and Tierra Richardson (10) set the pace for Columbia. Kelsey Hancock led Gilbert (7-12, 1-6) with 13 points.
The Eau Claire boys (16-6, 5-2) essentially locked up a second-place finish in the region with a 61-57 road win at Batesburg-Leesville. The balanced Shamrocks attack featured Wayne Henderson (13 points), Jamison Reed (10), Javon James (10) and Ronnie Green (9). Quin Brunson fired in 30 points for the Panthers, who dropped to 11-7, 4-3.
Swansea improved to 5-3 in Region 5-2A boys play with a 74-51 home win over Wade Hampton behind Terrance Salley (16 points), Byron Johnson (14) and Omar Butler (14).
