The Wildcats boys (17-5, 7-0) thumped the visiting Thoroughbreds 87-59 as Shaq Roland poured in 28 points. Sam McDermott and Nygel Gates backed Roland with 12 and 10 points, respectively. It was the sixth win in a row for Lexington, and the eighth in nine games since Jan. 3. In the girls game, Lexington (12-9, 6-1) stayed within one game of O-W by downing South Aiken 57-27 behind the balanced production of Erin Munn (21 points), Allison Kay (13) and Janai Pinckney (11).
Also in Region 5-4A, White Knoll came away with a split at North Augusta. Kiara Keisler and Sommer Cagle scored 12 and 11 points respectively, but the Timberwolves girls (7-11, 1-6) dropped a 51-41 decision to the Yellow Jackets after scoring their first win of the season last week. The T-Wolves boys, however, put away the Jackets, 63-52, in the nightcap. It was WK’s second straight conference success. Keith Jumper led the way with 20 points while Julian Johnson and Lamar Ray both contributed 12 points. The verdict upped the White Knoll record to 11-11 overall, 2-5 in the region.
