White Knoll breezed by visiting Stratford 7-0 on Friday to reserve a spot in the Class 4A District V championship round. The Timberwolves (19-8) will have a rematch at home with either Stratford or Spring Valley in Wednesday’s district final, needing one win to move on the Lower State championship tournament.
Spring Valley, which fell 6-0 to White Knoll in the first round on Wednesday, eliminated West Florence with a 5-4 win on Friday. The Vikings (16-11) travel to Stratford on Monday for another elimination game.
WK seniors Lydia Trexler and Kaylin White played the key roles in the win over the Knights. Trexler rapped four hits and drove in three runs. White had three hits and two RBIs and allowed just two hits in six innings of work in the circle to run her record to 13-5.
Otherwise, Meagan Helms had the team’s other RBI hit and Shilah Thompson scored three runs.
