Ridge View, Blythewood, Dutch Fork and Lexington cracked the top 10 at the Class 4A girls track state championship meet on May 12 at Harry Parone Stadium.
Ridge View edged neighboring rival Blythewood for third place, 45 points to 41. The Blazers star was junior SheKara Martin who came away with three gold medals. Martin was the winner in the 100- and 200-meter races and handled a leg on the winning 4x400 relay team. Alesha Love was the only other individual medallist – earning a silver prize for a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles. Love, Carrianne Kelley and Imani Belton rounded out the winning 1600 relay squad.
Blythewood big points came from Jai Lykes and Jena Alston. Lykes was second in both the shot put and discus, while Altson made fourth-place contributions in the 100 and 200 and on the 4x400 relay team.
Dutch Fork tallied 36 points, good for a seventh-place finish. Raveen Golston scored in two events for the Silver Foxes, including a third-place effort in the 100. Basketball star Alaina Coates chipped in with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump.
Lexington cracked the top 10 for the first time – sharing the 10th spot with Summerville. Katelin Killman (3rd in the 3200) and Becky Fecteau (3rd in the high jump) were the Wildcat individual medallists, and Killman also ran a leg on the third-place 4x800 relay team.
