High school girls volleyball

| Jessica Watts had 15 service points with 10 of them being aces to lead Carolina Forest over Socastee in a season-opening 5-set match. In the end, the Panthers prevailed, 25-12, 25-15, 13-25, 20-25, 15-4.
Alyssa Smalls added 11 kills and six service points and Christina Wright had nine kills and six blocks for Carolina Forest.
Katherine Hall had 10 service points, Dale Rogers had eight kills and Alison Markley had 16 assists for the Braves.
High school swimming
• The St. James Girls had a great night, as they won the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Medley Freestyle Relay. Ana Wolff qualified for states in the 100 Backstroke and Freestyle, and boys team swimmer Adam Stenger qualified for States in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Additionally, Carver’s Bay and Georgetown are in their first year of competitive swimming, producing impressive results as well.
