While thinking cooler temperatures and dry fields will bring out the best in a couple area athletes tonight...

Georgetown has a golden opportunity to make a mess out of Region VII-AAA. The Bulldogs, if they are able to beat Socastee this evening, will move into first place with another big showdown against Myrtle Beach next Friday.

Still, quarterback Caleb Hughes is tapering thoughts of what could be.

"This is an important game and our guys know that," Hughes said. "We just don’t want to overhype it and get the guys too pumped about it."

In part, he also said, because Socastee hasn't shown too many weakness.

The Bulldogs are certainly the underdog tonight. But as we learned last week, nothing is off the table in this region. With only three guaranteed playoff spots, the battle for the top half of Region VII-AAA is going to produce some excitement in the last three weeks of the regular season.
