Orangeburg-Wilkinson 48, Hilton Head Island High 42
With Hilton Head Island trailing by six late in the fourth quarter in the game that seemed like it would never end, the Seahawks were driving for the would-be game-tying score when quarterback Michael Julian overthrew Adam Orischak in the end zone and the ball was intercepted by Orangeburg-Wilkinson's Terry Johnson.
The Bruins (6-2) ran out the final 3:10 and held on for a big 48-42 win over Hilton Head Island (5-4) on their homecoming.
The Bruins turned two Seahawks turnovers in the second quarter -- a Khalil Lewis fumble and a Julian interception -- into quick touchdowns and jumped out to a 30-14 lead before Hilton Head Island fought its way back into the game in the third and fourth quarters.
Lewis scored three second-half touchdowns and finished with 232 yards rushing on 24 carries.
Julian finished with just 111 yards, a touchdown and the two interceptions on 11-for--25 passing. For the second straight week, he was more dangerous as a runner, racking up 155 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown, on 13 carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kalon Ford tallied 14 tackles -- three for loss -- and a sack.
The Seahawks struggled to stop Orangeburg-Wilkinson sophomore quarterback Austin Bradley, who threw five touchdown passes on just 10 completions.
In addition to all the scoring, as well as the homecoming festivities, the game was extended by a lengthy injury time-out in the second quarter. Seahawk Scott D'Amico was taken off the field with a leg injury.
