Undefeated Dreher moved on to the CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational semifinals with a 51-36 second-round win over Center Point (AL) on Thursday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The 10-0 Blue Devils to the big damage in the first half, holding the Eagles scoreless for nearly eight minutes on the way to a 21-7 lead at intermission. Dreher didn’t have a particularly good night offensively with a .294 field goal shooting percentage, but the defense more than made up for the cold shooting. The Blue Devils hounded CP into 27 turnovers.
Junior Kaydra Duckett was clearly the star of the game with 24 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jordan Starr was next in the scoring parade with nine points. Freshman Jhileiya Dunlap chipped in six points and nine rebounds. Makaya Johnson grabbed nine rebounds off the bench.
Dreher squares off against Archbishop Carroll (PA) in the semifinals Friday at 8:30 p.m. Win or lose, the Blue Devils are assured of a fourth game on Saturday.
Never miss a local story.
Archbishop Carroll, a member of the fabled Philadelphia Catholic League, got by icy cold Miami Senior (FL) by a 39-24 count. The Floridians hit only 7 of 43 field goal attempts in the game.
