The Carolina Forest softball team has certainly rebounded from its March 19 loss to Conway.
Since that game, the Panthers have rattled off six games by an average margin of six runs. It's the kind of response coach Meagen Johnson was hoping for from her team, and one that should be the type of confidence builder necessary to win the Region VI-AAAA title and make another deep playoff run.
The recent performance has also kept Carolina Forest in the national spotlight. The Panthers moved up a spot to No. 24 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings, released late Tuesday night. The team has been as high as No. 21 in the rankings - prior to that loss to Conway - before dropping four spots.

Carolina Forest is wrapping up its fourth game in the elite Ripken Tournament this afternoon. The Panthers will return to competition against area teams next Wednesday when they head to North Myrtle Beach.
Johnson's team also has three region games remaining on the schedule; at West Florence (April 12), vs. South Florence (April 16) and at Conway (April 19).
