The Myrtle Beach boys soccer team - already the No. 1 ranked Class AAA team in South Carolina - has added a national ranking to its mid-season resume.
The Seahawks (9-1) are No. 40 in the United States, according to EliteSoccerReport.com. Coach Jason Himmelsbach's squad is one of six from the Palmetto State included in the Web site's top 50.
Wando, the No. 1 team in Class AAAA, leads the South Carolina contingent with a No. 3 national ranking.

Myrtle Beach will have an opportunity to improve on its national spot today. The Seahawks are scheduled to play Lexington at approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon in the Nike Palmetto Cup at Brookland-Cayce outside Columbia.
The Wildcats are responsible for Myrtle Beach's lone loss so far this season.
On Wednesday, the Seahawks made quick work of start-up program Westwood, winning the game 12-0. Ten different players scored goals for Myrtle Beach.
Tournament organizer Kyle Heise said conditions in Columbia are not great - it is raining and cold. However, he added that unless lightning hits the area, games will continue as scheduled for the elite tournament.
