Lexington took care of two pressing baseball matters on Friday.
The top-ranked Wildcats moved on to the Class 4A District 5 championship round by defeating defending state champion Ashley Ridge, 3-0. The Swamp Foxes from Summerville defeated Lexington two times in the Lower State tournament last season, ending the Wildcats season in the championship round, in fact.
Jordan Buster provided the only offense pitcher Elliott Lance would need, stroking a two-run single in the second inning. Lance tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out seven while issuing only two free passes.
Zack Paquette was the other offensive standout, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Lexington (22-4) is off until the district final on May 1. The Wildcats will host the championship round, needing one win to return to the Elite Eight phase of the postseason.
