It's a do-or-die Monday in Class 4A

Eight Midlands baseball and softball teams must win or pack away the equipment. Monday's winners move on to various district championship rounds on Wednesday.

Monday is a day of decision for eight Midlands teams in the Class 4 state baseball and softball playoffs. It’s a case of winning and moving on to the district championship round on Wednesday, or losing and packing the equipment away.

The baseball games in question include Hillcrest at Spring Valley (District 2), Lugoff-Elgin at Ashley Ridge (District 5), Dutch Fork at West Ashley (District 7) and Conway at Richland NE (District 8).

The softball fare features Lancaster at Spring Valley (District 2), Nation Ford at Blythewood (District 4), Beaufort at Lexington (District 7) and Lugoff-Elgin at Summerville (District 8).

The Blythewood (District 4) and Lexington (District 5) baseball teams and the White Knoll (District 5) and Dutch Fork (District 8) have advanced to the championship round and will play at home on Wednesday needing one win to move on to the Elite Eight phase of the postseason. Monday’s winners must win two games on the road on Wednesday at avoid elimination.
