Class 3A playoffs continue on Monday

The baseball and softball sweepstakes enter second-round play. Seven Midlands teams are in the semifinals with a chance to move on to the finals on Friday, while seven other area squads are facing elimination.

The Class 3A baseball and softball playoffs launch second-round play on Monday.

Seven Midlands teams have district semifinal games with the winner moving on to the championship round on Friday. The slate includes Chapman at A.C. Flora (District 4 baseball), Manning at Airport (District 5 baseball), Brookland-Cayce at St. James (District 7 baseball), Camden at Chapman (District 3 softball), Union County at Chapin (District 4 softball), Georgetown at Gilbert (District 5 softball) and Swansea at Darlington (District 8 softball).

On the other hand, seven Midlands squads are in are in elimination games. The do-or-die match-ups include Woodruff at Dreher (District 1 baseball), Camden at Chester (District 2 baseball), Chapin at Union County (District 3 baseball), Gilbert at Hartsville (District 6 baseball), Swansea at Darlington (District 8 baseball), Chester at Dreher (District 1 softball), A.C. Flora at Woodruff (District 2 softball) and Manning at Airport (District 7 softball). The must unlikely pairing here is Union County and Chapin, which were the top two seeds in the district, but both suffered upset losses on Saturday.
