Falcons roll to District 4 final round

Defending Class 3A state baseball champion A.C. Flora advanced to the District 4 championship round with a five-inning, 10-0 semifinal win over visiting Chapman Monday at Falcon Field.

It was the 10th straight postseason win for Andy Hallett’s powerhouse.

Donald Gillespie and Matt Wallace were the ACF headliners. Gillespie went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI, while Wallace tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts.

Madison Stokes, Schroder Carlton and Jack Hudgens also had big games. Stones was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs ascored and one RBI. Carlton and Hudgens both went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The Falcons (20-7) are off until Friday when it returns to action at home needing one win to move on to the Elite Eight phase of the postseason for the ninth time since 2001.
