Airport romps in 3A Lower State opener

The 24-3 Eagles thump Socastee 9-3 to move on to the semifinals on Wednesday.

Airport opened the Class 3A Lower State baseball tournament with a rousing 9-3 win over visiting Socastee. The Eagles (24-3) will host a semifinal game on Wednesday with the chance to not only advance to the championship round but also to match the program’s single-season record for wins.

Junior right-hander Austin Hawley was the winning pitcher, running his record to 9-2. Casey Parker, Josh Tucker and Zach Feaster all had two hits. Parker drove in three runs, while Tucker and Feaster had one RBI apiece.
