Blythewood’s Class 4A Upper State tournament semifinal game at Wade Hampton in Greenville was rained out. The Bengals and Generals will try it again on Wednesday.
The game was halted with Blythewood No. 3 hitter Tyler Romanik at bat with a count of three balls and one strike and Ryan Malone on second base. Malone was running for Andrew Beckwith, who stroked a one-out double off Wade Hampton pitcher Bradley Jonathan. Beckwith, the announced Bengals starting pitcher, gave way to courtesy runner Malone.
The Blythewood-Wade Hampton winner advances to the championship round, originally scheduled for Friday but that is now subject to change. The loser will take on Dorman in an elimination game on Thursday or Friday.
The weather has not altered the Lower State tournament at all. Sumter plays at South Aiken on Wednesday with the winner advancing to the final on Friday at Lexington.
