Six area players set for Clash of Carolinas

The Charleston Battery hosts the seventh annual all-star soccer event at Blackbaud Stadium. The South Carolina vs. North Carolina confrontation is the only postseason interstate soccer challenge in the nation.

The seventh annual Clash of the Carolinas all-star soccer games take place Saturday in the Lowcountry at Blackbaud Stadium, home of the Charleston Battery.

The Clash of the Carolinas is the only interstate all-star soccer clash in the nation.

The boys and girls games pit the top senior players from South Carolina against their counterparts from North Carolina.

Six Midlands players are on the Sandlappers rosters – Brookland-Cayce forward Hebert Cojulun, Irmo defender Bobby Dukes, Dutch Fork midfielder Graham Jermstad, Blythewood keeper Lauren Killian, Lexington defender Kayla Grady and Dutch Fork midfielder Erin Morabito.

The girls game starts at 1 p.m. with the boys to follow at 3 p.m.

North Carolina has dominated so far. The Tar Heels have a 2-1-3 advantage in the boys game, and had won five of the six girls outings.
