Parker Bangs has been hired as head varsity baseball coach by the Heathwood Hall Athletics Department.

Bangs, a former assistant coach at Dutch Fork High School and for the Columbia Blowfish, played professionally with the Kansas City Royals 2010 – 2012. He played for the University of South Carolina 2007 – 2010 and was member of the team that won the 2010 National Championship.

“We are very excited to get someone with the experience and knowledge that Parker has,” said Heathwood Hall Athletics Director Jeff Whalen.

“His experience playing at the collegiate and professional levels, along with his coaching experience to date, make Parker a perfect fit for our program. We look forward to many successes with Parker at the helm.” Bangs earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from USC and currently is in the Masters of Public Administration program.

Bangs is the third new baseball coach at Heathwood in the past three season, and the third coach former Gamecock player to be given a chance to offer the program some much-needed stability at the top.

Former Gamecocks Brian Buscher (2012) and Jon Coutlangus (2012) were the other ex-Gamecocks who wre hired by the school, but neither stayed for more than one season.
