Dutch Fork (3-0) vs. Dorman (4-0)
Site: DF Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: It’s doesn’t get much better than this. Unbeaten, fourth-ranked Dutch Fork against unbeaten, seventh-ranked Dorman. Let the fun begin Dutch Fork is off to a sensational start, especially on the offensive side. The Silver Foxes are averaging 50.7 points and 499.7 yards per game. QB Derek Olenchuck has thrown for 805 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions. He’s completing 74.2% of his passes (46-for-62). RB Matt Colburn has 541 yards rushing and eight TDs and caught seven passes for 182 yards and two scores. Austin Ruger (14-259-4) and Deion Frasier (14-196-1) are emerging as playmakers at receiver. Olenchuk threw for 327 yards and five touchdowns in last week’s 63-28 romp over Rock Hill. Colburn ran for 233 yards and three TDs and caught three passes for 97 yards and one tally. Ruger grabbed six balls for 119 yards and three TDs Dorman needed a late, 73-yard scoring drive to escape with a 22-19 win at Hillcrest last week. The Cavaliers managed a net of just 20 yards rushing, but QB Grayland Fowler save the day with 263 yards passing and three scoring throws. JJ Arcega-Whiteside had nine catches for 224 yards and three TDs.
Series history: Dutch Fork is 0-2 against the traditional Upstate powerhouse. Dorman prevailed 38-14 in the first regular season meetings of the teams last season.
Ridge View (2-1) vs. Nation Ford (2-1)
Site: Blythewood District 2 Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Ridge View is coming off a 32-19 win over Fort Mill. QB Terrell Fetterson was 12-for-18 passing for 124 yards and two touchdowns. RB Walter Napper ran for 82 yards and one Td and also had one scoring catch. Marcus Reaster-Glover chipped in on special teams with a 90-yard kickoff return tally. Kicker Essam Kablaoui was 2-for-2 in field goal and PAT attempts. The defensive stars included linebackers Josh Hill (12 tackles, 1 TFL) and Malcolm Montgomery (8 tackles, 3 TFL) and linemen Khalil Hopkins (8 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 pass deflections), Chris Redmond 8 tackles) and Keito Jordan (78 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack) Nation Fork brings a potent passing attack to town. QB Dalton Helms is 46-for-84 passing for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns. Riley Hilton (15-207-3), Colt Taylor (14-160-1) and Brandon Cureton (12-332-4) are the primary targets.
Series history: Nation Ford was a 35-28 winner in the first meeting of the teams last season.
Blythewood (1-2) vs. Lancaster (2-1)
Site: Lancaster Memorial Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Blythewood needed a second-half rally to get by neighboring Westwood for its first win of the season. The Bengals trailed 10-0 at the half, but pulled out a 24-17 decision in a total team effort. Lynard Jamison had a 38-yard punt return touchdown for the special teams highlight. Javon Smith and De’Andre Fletcher had scoring runs. Greg Huegel kicked one field goal and three PATs. Jalen Williams had 10 tackles on defense Lancaster rebounded from a loss to Ridge to beat Class 2A Central 19-7 last week.
Series history: Blythewood’s 21-12 victory last season broke a 2-2 series tie.
Aiken (0-3) vs. Richland NE (0-3)
Site: Louis Hagood Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: The frustration ends for one team this week ... RNE’s offensive woes continued in last week’s 14-6 loss to Lower Richland. The Cavaliers attack managed just 158 total yards Aiken has lost 10 in a row since defeating RNE, 41-33, last season.
Series history: Aiken halted a seven-game losing skid against the Cavaliers last year. RNE has won eight of the 10 series clashes.
Union County (0-3) vs. Fairfield Central (3-0)
Site: Union County Fairgrounds Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: It should be offensive shootout ... The Class 2A second-ranked Griffins tuned up with a blowout 50-26 win over Chester. FC led 42-10 by halftime. Larry J. Bell was named the overall player of the game, Larry G. Bell (68 yards rushing, 3 TDs) the offensive standout and Byron Sampson the defensive star. QB DeAndre Belton was 11-for-20 passing for 127 yards and one TD and 87 yards rushing and one score on five carries UC is coming off a 31-28 loss to Greer.
Series history: UC evened the series slate at 7-7 with a 42-40 shootout win last season.
Newberry (3-0) vs. Chapin (1-2)
Site: Mike Ware Field. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Chapin is looking to bounce back from a 35-14 loss to Brookland-Cayce. Nate Blakenship had a good game on defense with 25 total tackles, but there was little else of note for the Eagles who turned the ball over four times and missed countless tackles ... Newberry, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, pounded 3A Berea 62-20 last week as sophomore quarterback Yafari Watts had three touchdown runs.
Series history: Newberry has won two in a row against the Eagles, 13 of the last 15 and leads the series by a 13-4 margin.
York (3-0) vs. Keenan (3-1)
Site: Pratt Field. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Keenan has a demanding challenge on its hands this week against a team on the rise under coach Bobby Carroll ... The Raiders took a 22-6 decision last week against winless Calhoun County. Peter Easaw led the attack with 161 yards rushing and one touchdowns. To date Easaw 434 yards rushing, 205 yards receiving and three TDs on the books. QB Deion Trezevant is 43-for-62 passing for 691 yards and five TDs. Tarik Young has been the standout on defense with 25 tackles, 6 TFL, 3 sacks, 5 pressures and 2 caused fumbles York knocked off No. 8 Gaffney 35-32 last week. QB Dashaw Andrews was 22-for-30 passing for 268 yards and one touchdown and also had 42 yards and one TD by land. Ryan Moore had 80 yards rushing and one TD on 19 carries.
Series history: York routed the Raiders 65-0 last season in the first meeting of the teams in 13 years. Keenan is 0-5 against the Cougars.
Lake Marion (2-1) vs. Eau Claire (0-3)
Site: Lake Marion Stadium. Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Lake Marion takes on the Shamrocks with a 2-1 record for the second year in a row ... Eau Claire took a 44-8 hit last week against Dreher and is in the midst of a 12-game losing streak.
Series history: Lake Marion romped 40-0 in the first meeting of the teams last year.
