Devontae Shuler is close to announcing his college decision.
Shuler, a former Irmo standout who is now at Oak Hill (Va.), said Sunday he’ll announce Monday where he will play college basketball. The announcement is expected to come at 7 p.m.
Shuler previously announced his final four schools were South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miami and Oklahoma State. He’s made official visits to USC, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State. USC coach Frank Martin also visited Shuler at Oak Hill in September.
“South Carolina is my hometown school, and of course, they are in my top five,” Shuler said this summer at Peach Jam in North Augusta. “I have a good relationship with coach Martin.”
The 6-foot-3 Shuler averaged 10 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists for Oak Hill last season. The Warriors won the Dick’s Sporting Goods National Tournament at Madison Square Garden and finished No. 2 in USA Today Super 25 poll.
During the summer, Shuler played for CP3 and averaged 12.3 points and shot 50 percent from the field, including 42.2 percent from 3-point range.
Shuler is No. 100 on 247Sports Top 100 for the Class of 2017.
