Defending Class 4A boys state champion Lower Richland and rising program York Prep highlight a strong field for the third annual Crescent Construction MLK Bash.
Matchups for the two-day event at Eau Claire were announced Wednesday. The girls games will be Jan. 13 and the boys Jan. 15.
Four of the top eight prospects in 247Sports’ Class of 2019 South Carolina rankings will play in the boys’ event, including No. 1 ranked Christian Brown of Lower Richland. Brown has more than 20 offers, including South Carolina, Clemson and Kansas, to name a few.
Others Division I prospects include Ridge View’s Malcolm Wilson, York Prep’s DJ Burns and Deuce Dean and Sumter’s CJ Felder. Dean played at Dutch Fork before transferring to York Prep. Wilson and Burns have offers from South Carolina and Clemson, while Felder picked up an offer from Clemson last week.
Sumter’s Isiah Moore is one of the top-rated prospects for the Class of 2018.
Other players to watch include Wilson’s Alex Caldwell, Cardinal Newman’s Chico Carter, Hammond’s Jordan Burch, Keenan’s Dillon Jones, Ridge View’s Wayln Napper, Lakewood’s Grant Singleton and Hartsville’s Trae Hannibal.
Matchups for the boys’ games are Hartsville-Cardinal Newman, Hammond-Lower Richland, Sumter-Wilson, York Prep-Lakewood and Ridge View-Keenan.
Matchups for the girls’ games are Cardinal Newman-Dreher, Swansea-Richland Northeast, Spring Valley-Orangeburg-Wilkinson, Lower Richland-Westwood and Wilson-Ridge View.
Talent players to watch in the girls’ games include Swansea’s Danae McNeal; Westwood’s Unique Drake, Maliyah Lockett and Nyah Leveretter; Wilson’s D’Asia Gregg (Georgia Tech commit) and Loyal McQueen; Cardinal Newman’s Ashlyn Watkins and Tyra Beadle; Spring Valley’s Ashley Williamson; Richland Northeast’s Sharita Godfrey, Dashia Jackson and Taylor Britt.
